What is academic advisement?

The provision of academic advice to students is essential to guide them in navigating their academic journeys under the HEC’s Undergraduate Education Policy 2020. The newly admitted students will be assigned a mentor who will advise and facilitate up to 3 semesters.

Why do you need academic advice as a student?
To make your academic journey with the university more exciting and memorable, our Undergraduate Student Office under the Directorate of Student Affairs is always available to listen and resolve your study-related problems or any other stress that you might be facing.

Academic advisement meetings are held twice a month, however, any student facing educational anxiety, stress or confusion can ask for a one-on-one meeting. We will be more than available to hear you out and provide relief. 

Our Services:
Our main objective is to deliver timely academic advice in a healthy learning environment along with the following services:

  1. Prompt provision of academic advice.
  2. Increase students’ satisfaction and retention.
  3. Guide the students in selecting Major, Minor(s) and Distribution Courses as per their interest and help them explore probable outcomes of different combinations.
  4. Help in defining life and career objectives and create educational strategies to achieve them.
  5. Inform students about enhancing their learning through opportunities related to their fields both inside & outside the university.
  6. Support to make the most out of university experience and provide guidance in making informed decisions regarding academic and professional goals.
  7. Facilitate students in career development with the latest job/ internship opportunities.

Expected Outcomes:
As a result of the academic advising process, you will be able to:

  1. Evaluate personal interests and abilities leading to the creation of realistic academic and professional goals.
  2. Access University academic and student support services and resources.
  3. Develop critical thinking and independent decision-making skills to accept the responsibility of academic decisions.
  4. Discover and integrate co- and extra-curricular activities and programs that enhance the collegiate experience.
